Chapter 14

PJ stirred and opened her eyes. She shifted away from Chads’ arms and faced him, looking at his handsome face while he slept. She leaned in to kiss him, giving into the temptation.

Her body was humming at the love making she had experienced. Surprisingly she wanted more of him. She searched deeply in her heart for that guilty voice coming in play but heard nothing. Either she was hardened or this was right.

Chad groaned in response and drew her closer, taking her by surprise.

“Thought you were sleeping,” she breathlessly commented after they had drawn apart

“I was until you woke me up with that sweet mouth of yours and silky legs.” He ran his hand on her back while her body quivered again in response. Their bodies intertwined; she could feel him getting aroused again.

PJ looked at the clock and abruptly left the bed before she got carried away, “It’s getting late, Edwina will start getting worried.”

“Relax, like I said Michael is entertaining her. They went shopping and for a movie. I asked for four hours since we need to talk about ourselves.”

“What about?”

PJ grabbed her dress that had been carelessly thrown on the chair in the heat of the moment. Chad also woke up while PJ gasped at his well-toned body that was giving her a hard time in trying to stop her fingers from tracing those contours on his torso. He looked at her, daring her to comment while her mouth suddenly went dry.

He winked then did something that made her chuckle at the same time she found arousing. He moved his chest, flexing the muscles.

“Like what you see,” he asked

“Put on your clothes man,” she finally said and threw his trousers at him.

“What if I don’t want to? What if I want to remain in bed with you today?”

“Well, that can’t happen. You have a dinner party at eight. You have still got to select your bride.”

“My bride is you,” Chad said calmly and reached to her before pulling her into his lap.

PJ giggled and pushed him away, fighting off the temptation to return back to bed before she reached out for one of the shoes under the bed and wore it.

“That’s silly, I am not suitable and you know it.”

Chad frowned. “What are you talking about?”

Seeing she wasn’t going to fulfill his desire of lazing in bed, he reached for his shirt and wore it.

“In case you didn’t notice, there is no spot of blood on your sheets.”

“And what has that got to do with being my bride.”

PJ rolled her eyes. “The future queen of Safe Haven is meant to be pure.”

“That’s madness,” Chad said and reached out to hug her, nuzzling her neck while her body trembled in response. “Those things are ancient; they don’t apply to any of us.”

PJ reluctantly left the comfort of his arms. It was now or never. Chad had to be practical in this, just like she was about to be practical.

“Says who, Chad the man who grew up in the States or Chad the prince.
